The website was launched on June 20, 2005 by Stian Stordalen, the main developer of the Stian Stordalen is a professional web developer, with an interest in security and systems administration. He is living in Oslo, Norway. He has experience with PHP, JavaScript and MySQL development. He built this wiki using Wikipedia's MediaWiki software. The purpose of this project was to create an easy-to-use wiki for all of your business data. Currently Typosphere has over 8000 users worldwide ranging from students to businesses. The company has offices in the USA, UK, Brazil, Germany and Japan. Typosphere's business model is based on subscriptions. Each time a user makes an edit to the wiki or adds a new article to it, which are stored in their account, they will be asked to subscribe to the service. Subscription plans start at $30/month for individuals and $10/month for businesses with unlimited storage space for each website that they have subscribed to. The most obvious benefit of having a wiki is that it can be accessed with any device equipped with a web browser, including smartphones. Another great feature of wikis is that they are self-sustaining. Many users can edit them and anyone can add new information to them or correct existing content. This means that the content is always up to date and does not rely on any single user such as an administrator or editor to keep it updated. The only exception to this rule would be if the wiki was locked, but this should never happen on a wiki used by a business or company, as Typosphere offers an Administrator tool which allows only selected users to edit the Typosphere wiki and its pages. The wiki can also be used in combination with other business tools. For example, if you use Outlook (for email) or Google Calendar (for appointments), then you can add an icon to your toolbar that will allow you to create new calendar entries or appointments directly on the wiki. You can even create links to information on the wiki from your existing documents using the normal shortcut keys of CTRL+K for Windows users. Wink started off as a free web-based document management system, where anyone could create their own website, or "Wink site" without any programming knowledge needed. cfa1e77820
